The 2012 Potomac Open was held August 2-4 at the Rockville Hilton in Rockville, MD. A total of 164 players competed in six sections. The tournament awarded the largest amount of money we have ever awarded for a score-based tournament, $11,510. The additional prizes for 1st place and three players going 5-0 lead to the larger payout.

The Championship section finished with two players at 4.5, Mikheil Kekelidze and Justin Sakar. Justin lost his first round game in a bizarre oversight but then reentered and won four games and drew with Mikheil.

In the Under 1900 Section Ronald Salo went 5-0 and collected $1400. The Under 1700 winner was Alex Bai who collected $800 for his score of 4.5-0.5 and sole first place. The second 5-0 player was Dragan Knezevic in the Under 1500 section who went home with $1200. The winner of the Under 1300 was Taylor Brunotts who went 4.5-0.5 and collected $350. The third 5-0 player was in the Under 1100 section where Jim Polfer took home $600.

The final cross table with prizes is posted on the MCA tournament results page here.
