5-Round Swiss system in three separate sections (everyone plays 5 games)

By mail, 8:30–9:30am on site, or 4–6pm any Friday in Commons 2nd Floor.

½-Point Byes Available

Up to 3 in Rounds 1–5 if requested at least 1 hour before round (before Rd. 2 for any Rd. 4–5 bye), but at most one ½-point bye in Rds. 4–5.  No ½-point byes available to any UMBC team prospect.

In any round if requested before Round 1.

* USCF membership required.  May purchase at site ($40 adult, $26 under 25 yrs old, $22 under 16 yrs old, $40-over 64).

** Unrated players may not win more than $250 in U1800 section.

 

Any UMBC student who wishes to qualify for any of the three UMBC Chess Teams

for the 2014–2015 academic year must play in the Open Section of the UMBC Championship.

 

Directions to UMBC: Take Exit 47B off I-95 and follow signs to UMBC.  Park in Lot 9 or 16.
