This is a fixed roster team tournament with four player teams. Each round teams play a match against another team. Standings will be by board points. Board order on a team MUST be in order of USCF ratings, using the 2/2017 ratings supplement. Unrated players MUST play below all rated players. Teams from the same school will not be paired against each other, unless there is no other way to pair the score group.

A team consists of a maximum of 4 players and a minimum of 3 players (all missing boards will count as a loss each round). All players on a team must attend the same school in the same building with the same administration. There is no limit on the number of teams a school may field in a section. Home-schooled players who reside in a single school district may form a team. Alternatively, home-schooled players may play for teams from the public schools they opted out of attending. If a non-Title-1 school fields 4 or more teams, it may request a $10 discount per team at the tournament.

If the tournament were to be rescheduled or cancelled, then MCA would contact you (by email and/or text) and post an announcement at the top of this tournament-announcement page. The tournament will proceed as planned, if MCA neither contacts you, nor posts an announcement about a rescheduling or cancellation. Please do not contact MCA about a site's hypothetical closing because of bad weather, etc. A site closing would be announced separately by the public school's city or county administration, the private school, etc. If the tournament were to be rescheduled, then MCA would issue a refund, if a player were to withdraw from the rescheduled tournament. If the tournament were to be cancelled, then MCA would automatically issue a refund to all players within 1-2 weeks; there would be no need to inform MCA of a player's withdrawal from a cancelled tournament.
