Parking: No street parking is available by the Rayburn House Office Building. However, residential street parking is available three to four blocks away from the Rayburn House Office Building.
Closest Metro Train Station: Capital South Metro Station (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines).
Entry Fee: $40 Early Bird Special by 8/19, $50 by 8/25 no entries are accepted on site. All cash prizes guaranteed! No refunds on entries unless the event is canceled!
Sections: Students in grades K-12 are paired in groups of four with students of similar rating strength.
Prizes: Top prize for the 1st place winner of each quad is $110 and a trophy. 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a medal.
Students will play 3RR USCF rated games. USCF Membership is required. No elimination! Each game is 30 minutes with no delay. Possible 5-minute blitz playoff if necessary to determine who wins the tie breaker / quad. Game times are 10:00am, 11:30am and 1:30pm with a the trophy and medals ceremony following the final match. Please arrive by 9:00am to 9:45am for check-in, rounds start exactly at 10:00am. Players should bring their own sets and clocks. Chess equipment is not provided! No byes are provided.. Entries “MUST” be received by Friday August 25, 2023 no entries are accepted after this date. No registration accepted or will take place the day of the event. Special prizes are awarded to students who solve chess problems / puzzles. All cash prizes guaranteed! Parents are not allowed in the playing area but are welcome to wait outside of the tournament room. Space is limited to so we ask that only one parent or guardian attend per participant. Space is limited to the first 48 students who register.
